WHAT DOES THE SITE BASED DECISION MAKING COMMITTEE DO?

The SBDM committee's advisory responsibilities include:

    • Establishing campus goals and plans for improving student performance and well-being through a Campus Needs Assessment (CNA) and performance data.
    • Developing, reviewing, and revising the Campus Improvement Plan (CIP). You can find our CIP here.
    • Providing input in the areas of curriculum, budget, school safety, school organization, and staffing patterns.
    • Approving campus level staff development plans and the use of discretionary funds.

WHO SITS ON THE SBDM COMMITTEE?

The SBDM members include the Principal, teachers, staff, and parent committee members. There are five parent committee members, who are elected by Dealey parents each spring or appointed by the Principal.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN SBDM & THE PTA?

The PTA (Parent Teacher Association) focuses on fostering communication and cooperation between parents, teachers and staff and providing critical support to the school through fundraising and volunteering. SBDM focuses on advising the Principal on crucial decisions related to academics, safety, and community well-being. We recommend being involved in both to enhance your child’s experience at Dealey.
